MatroskaName

The Matroska Name

Matroska is the name of the well-known open audio/video file format. The name itself was inspired by the russian dolls. Matroska is based on EBML that have a layout with a lot of encapsulation, hence the russian dolls... Russian dolls in russian are called матрёшка. But given the audience of matroska we decided to make the name a bit more easier for the non russian-speaking people and that was matroska.
