matroska anamorphic test

You may download these 2 sample files ( right click, 'save as' ) :

Version 1

Version 2

Important :

Please play the movies ONLY with TCMP RC3/4 ( CDL 1.2 or newer ), or with the very latest mkxds.dll or matroskasplitter.ax filters in combination with ffdshow-alpha dated 23rd may ( overylay enabled ) !!

If you play them with any other player that can not do aspect ratio compensation, or do look at the files in VirtualdubMod before rating them, this will completely defeat the purposes of this test !!

The idea is to find out which version you like better, and to give you an idea on where these 2 movies differ, they are encoded in different resolutions, but are tagged with the same display aspect ratio ( 832 x 352 ), so with a suitable player you will not notice the resolution they were encoded in, other than a possible quality difference.

These were the 2 resolutions :

560 x 352 ( anamorphic )
696 x 288 ( PAR 1:1 )

but i wont tell you which version is which ..... happy testing and, if you wish to do so, voting in the official matroska webforum on corecodec.com !!

XviD Settings were : h.263, VHQ 4, MS 6, 2 b-frames with standard threshh., QPEL, dx50, means totally default, unoptimized settings ... total video filesize was 630 MB in both cases, for a 136 mins movie ....

EDIT : Sorry about the very small difference in playing time, it seems XvID rate control was reacting a little bit different for the 2 encoding resolutions, and i was too lazy to reencode the first movie with a slightly higher bitrate to compensate for that ..
